All this means a career packed with opportunities to grow and the chance to shape the future of our clients.

About the Internship Program

At Deutsche Bank, we’re changing what it means to be a bank. We’re looking for creative thinkers who are ready to transform an industry from day one. Through our internship, you’ll get a taste of what life is like on our Graduate Program. You’ll learn and develop your skills every day, but you’ll also have a clear and supportive path ahead of you.

You’ll gain the confidence to take on real projects, build your network and learn from senior leaders across our business. You’ll also see how important diversity and inclusion are to our success and how that translates into innovation you can see. If you’re looking for a head start in your finance career, this is your chance to learn first-hand how and what we are delivering for an exciting range of clients worldwide.

About the business division

Commercial Real Estate (CRE) sits within Investment Bank Fixed Income & Currencies. It provides the financing behind the real estate portfolios of public corporations, private equity groups and institutional investors. The debt originated by the team is distributed via commercial mortgage-backed securities, loan syndications, or held on balance sheet.  The properties in question are diverse, ranging from hotels and office buildings to industrial premises and retail outlets, throughout North America.

Consistently ranked at the top of global league tables, our CRE team is a leader in its field thanks to its global footprint, breadth of products, depth of capabilities and success in delivering the most complex transactions.

Division specifics about the intern role

Join us and you will be an integral part of our team. Over 10 weeks you will experience what it’s like to work for our international bank. Starting with up to a week of classroom-based training, you’ll then complete two rotations within CRE and gain a wide range of practical experience. During your internship, you will also benefit from training courses, seminars and a variety of networking events.

Your day-to-day tasks will vary depending on your role. But you might be evaluating a client’s credit risk profile, performing property market research, modelling property cashflows, or preparing loan materials and reports. Your learning curve will be steep as you get involved in current deals and interact with various teams involved in the loan origination process. But you’ll enjoy plenty of support from managers and mentors, along with unparalleled global exposure.

Successful interns will be invited to join the Deutsche Bank Graduate Program.

What we look for

We recruit students who are intelligent and adaptable with excellent interpersonal skills. They are studying for degrees in many different disciplines. Even though good levels of numeracy are important for some roles, you won’t necessarily need a formal mathematical or financial background. We have very comprehensive training programs that will give you all the technical knowledge you’ll need to build a career with us.

You should not only be passionate about the world of finance, but also show a keen interest in your chosen field. You already have a record of academic achievement and you’re eager to go on learning at the same intensive rate. You’ll thrive on working in a highly collaborative and diverse culture with some of the best minds in banking.

Please note that you must be graduating between December 2023-May 2024 to apply for our 2023 Summer Internship Program.
