About the Position

We are seeking ultra-creative and original, growth-minded social media content associates with a love for college life, fashion and beauty, and/or food and bev to create (IG, TikTok, Threads, X, Pinterest, Facebook, and emerging platforms). This role is responsible for the day-to-day content creation of Her Campus, College Fashionista, and Spoon University social content, working in partnership with editors, designers, and the branded content team. This is a fast-paced role that requires managing a lot of moving parts and a variety of skill sets: including video creation and editing, meme design, engaging with our followers, and testing new innovative strategies to drive growth and engagement. The ideal candidate is someone who knows the ins and outs of Instagram and TikTok, has their finger on the pulse of Gen Z, is comfortable creating content themselves and appearing on camera, is a fast but also intentional worker, and is excited to help steer our social platforms in a new and fun direction.

Responsibilities

  • Content creation and scheduling for Her Campus Media social platforms (Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista) 

  • Work collaboratively with editors, designers, and team to create engaging social content

  • Translate reports into actionable strategy based on the results 

  • Contribute to brainstorms and ideation sessions with the Her Campus Media edit teams, with an eye for what will perform well on social

  • Ability to create social graphics and memes, both independently with tools like Canva and cross-collaboratively with designers

  • Create original video content for social, including appearing on-camera in social content, with the ability to photograph and film content that engages a Gen Z audience and aligns with current trends and social conversations

  • Availability to manage social media during events, which may take place during non-work hours on occasion (e.g., Super Bowl, award shows, etc.)

  • Prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion through your work in order to serve our diverse audience and community 

  • Keep your finger on the pulse of social trends, food media, Gen Z culture, and the competitive landscape

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required 

  • 1+ year of experience working in social media 

  • Highly adept across TikTok, Instagram, Threads and Pinterest — with a lot of curiosity about new and emerging platforms

  • Demonstrated history of hitting and surpassing social growth goals

  • Strong understanding of the landscape of Her Campus Media brands — particularly Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista 

  • Excellent writing and copy editing skills with rigorous attention to detail

  • Confidence filming and appearing in video content, e.g., Reels, TikToks, IG Lives, etc., specifically with food content

  • Quick and efficient with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once

  • Self-starter with go-getter attitude, excited about working in a start-up environment

Additional Information

Compensation & Perks:

  • Company Holidays and Summer Fridays

  • Hourly Pay $25 per hour, up to 24 hours per week

Final salary offered to the candidate selected for the position will be based on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, experience, and other factors.

Interview Process & Expectations

Our timeline is to make a hire as soon as possible. You can expect 3-4 rounds of interviews, including an initial phone screen and subsequent interviews with leaders on the Social/Edit team as well as one of HCM’s Co-Founders. You will be asked to submit a short work sample to demonstrate your understanding and approach for this role.
