About the Position

As Copywriter, you’ll contribute to our fashion editorial creative strategy, building on brand narratives through stories that are highly relevant and designed to create real desire for our products and services. You’ll also collaborate on advertising campaigns across all channels, engaging consumers in an authentic style in both traditional & emerging media. Through mastery of our distinctive voice & best practices, you'll develop persuasive messages that position our brand as a brand with purpose. 
 
This position will collaborate closely with designers and marketers within the Marketing department, as well as with Project Management. Depending on the project, you may also work with cross-functional partners from Creative, Marketing, Digital, eCommerce, the Fashion Office, Philanthropy, Visual, Merchandising, Stores and agency partners to ensure a consistent brand experience.    

What you’ll be doing…

  • Develops digital & print advertising that meets brand identity guidelines, reflects fashion trends, and is grounded in an ongoing awareness of competition

  • Interprets fashion POV in compelling terrestrial & streaming video, audio & podcast scripts

  • Collaborates on communication strategies that deliver marketing & sales objectives and position our brand as a credible style authority

  • Keeps pulse on fashion, seasonal trends, competitors & what’s next at Macy’s to pitch new ideas for the editorial content plan

  • Collaborates with designers and other creatives to develop campaign & project concepts that meet creative brief objectives  

  • Effectively interprets & adapts information for each initiative and writes clear, concise and compelling copy to embody the voice of the brand  

  • Researches with enthusiasm to bring innovation into all solutions, from new fashion and promotional ideas to new digital content and experiences  

  • Plans, prioritizes & organizes a high volume of work, coordinating with Project Management to effectively meet deadlines 

  • Proofreads and self-edits to deliver work that is accurate and achieves the highest standards of creative excellence and technical quality  

  • Masters legal guidelines, formats & best practices 

Other information

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience  

  • Must have 2-3 years of fashion editorial experience 

  • Storyboarding & Broadcast writing experience (video, audio, podcast) preferred

  • Portfolio demonstrating strategic & creative strength 

  • Passion for consumer behavior and digital trends

  • Industry-aware; knows what the competition is doing in all channels, and able to adapt learnings

  • High-level thinker who is detail oriented with the capability to juggle a number of projects and meet deadlines without forgoing quality

  • Excellent communication, presentation & storytelling skills 

  • Proven strength in problem analysis and decision making 

  • Takes ownership, focuses on results and strives for continuous improvement 

  • Proficient in InDesign and Adobe Creative Suite
